4A zeolite is a kind of crystal hydrate of aluminum sodium silicate , of which appearance is white powder without poison and harmfulness . It is not dissolvable in water.Its chemical formula is:Na2O·Al2O3·2SiO2·4.5H2O;Its structure is composed of silica tetrahedron and aluminum-oxide tetrahedron as basic cell.The points connect with surface in these cells to form structure of framework. There are so many hole ducts and cavities of very big surface area. These hole ducts and cavities are full of structured water and sodium ion. Structured water could gradually disappear and restore again between 80-575. In the water that contains kalium and calcium ions, sodium ion outside of framework shall be exchanged by kalium and calcium ions in the water to be formed into the substance that is similar to zeolite (3A,5A zeolite) with changing the size of diameter. Therefore, these characteristics could be utilized to change water hardness thus to soften water, decompose dirt of saponification calcium and play role in assistant washing.
